155mm Modular Charge System Artillery
12 February 2005 11:52
Nitrochemie's strength is the ability of adapting the system to the customer's requirements at short notice, as far as special weapon systems or new types of projectiles are concerned. The leading product in the artillery charge business, the 155mm MTLS DM 72 has finalized the first up grade.
After a company funded product improvement program over the last 2 years, Nitrochemie has qualified in the SpH 2000 the German BWB the next generation of modules. The new DM 92 fulfils the requirement of + 63°C firing temperature in respect of the NATO JBMOU requirements. With this solution Nitrochemie can now offer a solution for out of area operations in hot environment for the German army and an excellent product for the global market.
The 155mm modular charge system is in service in Germany, Norway, Italy, Greece and will soon be introduced in the Netherlands. For the qualification of the French CAESAR system, GIAT has chosen the 155mm MCS DM 72 (Standard Module) and DM 82 (Low Zone Module) of Nitrochemie.
Using the latest findings from the chemistry of propellants allows Nitrochemie to achieve the performance levels and ranges specified by international agreements under especially favourable prerequisites, namely:
- Low erosivity thanks to barrel-protecting mechanisms and low flame temperatures
- Low sensitivity against "outside" influences thanks to the application of special new recipe components
- No risk in the deployment thanks to a good ignition transmission with an optimized ignition booster
Ecological requirements have been taken into account in the development. Substances compatible with the environment are used exclusively. Contamination of the direct environment and toxic influences on humans and animals are excluded.
