Bespoke armour plating

VR Laser are the leading armour plate engineering and service centre in Africa. We stock a full range of European-manufactured armoured steel and have easy and quick access to other armour steel ranges not held in stock. Our range of armour plating covers the hardness values of 380HBN, to 500HBN manufactured to specifications such as Mil - A - 46100, Mil - A - 1256 class 1 and 2. Both metric and imperial sizes are available.

Metal bending services

VR Laser offers a powerful choice of bending solutions. We have precision CNC press brakes that can handle a multitude of parts of all sizes and thicknesses, and specialise in the complex bending of carbon steels, particularly quench and tempered high-strength materials.

Precision laser cutting services

VR Laser’s name derives from the precision laser cutting service that we offer our customers. Our laser cutting technology remains at the forefront of the industry, and employs the latest laser equipment to give clients a precise cutting service every time. We employ our own service technicians who are trained by the manufacturer to ensure that our equipment is maintained to the manufacturer’s original specifications.

CNC machining solutions

VR Laser is the first plate service provider to offer a full CNC machining service. All steel plate parts requiring close tolerances can be machined and processed in our facilities, and we specialise in the machining of high hardness carbon steels.

High definition plasma cutting

We employ the latest European technologies from both MESSER and ESAB. Our high-definition plasma cutting equipment consists of three machines capable of cutting up to 40mm thick carbon steel plates. We are capable of processing plates up to 13m in length and 3m in width.

Profile cutting and chamfering

At our facilities in Alrode, which offers easy access to all major roads, specialise in high volume profile cutting and chamfering we can process up to 1,000t a month. Our five 12m x 3m profile machines can cut up to 300mm thick plate. We also do chamfering and heavy bending under one roof.

Sheet steel rolling services

To prove uniqueness in the plate service centre, we also provide our clients with sheet steel rolling solutions. We have a number of rolls capable of rolling sheets with widths of up to 3m. The thickness and diameter that can be accommodated is determined by the combination of width and thickness of the steel supplied.

Metal welding and fabrication

VR Laser offers clients an unparalleled range of welding services. Our comprehensive range of welding capabilities includes MIG, TIG, carbon arc, plasma and oxy-acetylene welding. Fabrications can be made to the customers required specifications with post fabrication operations supplied if required. Quality inspections are carried at every stage of production.
