Since 2000, Sabiex has also designed and developed new vehicles.

DESIGN AND ENGINEERING

The SABIEX engineering team uses the latest Computer Aided Design (CAD) techniques for their new vehicle designs and vehicle upgrading programmes. Finite elements analysis enables designs to be verified and optimised before manufacture.

Our team of engineers is involved in modernising or converting vehicles and systems. SABIEX carries out this modernisation on vehicles such as the AMX-13, M113 A2/A3, M109, Leopard 1 or AML 60/90. SABIEX is currently busy with the conversion of the OF 40 tank into ICV.

SELLING AND BUYING MILITARY VEHICLES

SABIEX buys military vehicles and surplus goods and resells after reconditioning them in its workshops. The company is particularly well known for supplying tracked armoured vehicles (AMX-13s, M109s and M113s), armoured wheeled vehicles (AML 60s / 90s) and riot-control vehicles (BDXs).

Sabiex currently stocks Eland 60s / 90s (the South African version of the AML) and GEPARD anti-aircraft tanks with bitube 35mm Oerlikon guns (including more than 400,000 rounds).

MILITARY VEHICLE SPARE PARTS

SABIEX holds a large inventory of spare parts for American (M113, M109, M60), French (AMX 10-13-30, AML 60/90, M3), German (Leopard, Gepard) and Russian (T55, PT76, BTR60, BRDM2) vehicles.

The inventory is managed using a stock-control system based on standard NATO classification which enables items to be retrieved almost immediately, thus ensuring the fastest possible response to the customer request. SABIEX can dispatch any part to anywhere in the world from its warehouses, with extremely short delivery times, and can meet long-term supply requirements.

SABIEX is engaged in constant improvements in the tactical efficiency of military vehicles in close co-operation with various partners, offering, for example:

  • Add-on armour and NBC system to improve vehicle survivability and crew protection
