Plasan has won an important contract from the Brazilian Military Police for high-performance, multi-purpose APCs. Known for its "mission ready" solutions, Plasan has designed more than 150 armoured vehicles, and delivered more than 30,000 armoured hulls to armed forces worldwide.

In order to meet changing operational needs, the Brazilian Military Police has ordered six "mission ready" high-performance APCs. Designed to carry 24 policemen plus crew, the Plasan APCs feature roof and side-armour to STANAG 3 standards, under-floor protection, and new operational features. The package is worth more than $9m.

The APC solution reflects Plasan’s total in-house design, production and integration capability. It uses commercial 4×4 vehicles, which have been transformed from the chassis up with detection and protection systems to provide 6 x 6 performance at a fraction of the cost.

The vehicles feature exceptional maneuverability, turning radius and flexibility on most types of terrain.

The APCs include NBC solutions, interior fire suppression systems, non-lethal weapon systems, IR night vision and power management for mission sustainability.

A hydraulically operated rear door simplifies access while side doors provide added safety to crew and troops. A large front sled can remove obstacles and clear the road.

Plasan CEO Dani Ziv said: "We are delighted that the Military Police in Brazil chose our solution for the CHOQUE DA PMESP project. This demonstrates Plasan’s ability to customize platforms to meet the challenges of tomorrow. We can take most existing solutions, and thanks to our unique experience as well as our in-house engineering, design and testing, deliver a mission-ready solution at a fraction of the price of alternative platforms – in the most aggressive time frames.

"We bring this same capability to existing and new platforms, helping armies, police forces, and security organisations worldwide meet changing defense and security scenarios."

The vehicles are due to be delivered before the end of 2014.
