Patria Land and Armament - Armoured Wheeled Vehicles, Mortars, Ammunition and Lifecycle Support

Patria designs, manufactures and delivers armoured-vehicle systems and indirect-fire support systems based on advanced mortar solutions, ammunition products and through-life support services to selected customers globally in cooperation with strategic partners.

Patria's land and armament business unit's main products are systems based on Patria AMV 8x8 armoured wheeled vehicles and / or Patria Nemo as well as AMOS mortars.

ARMOURED MODULAR VEHICLE (AMV)

The Patria AMV offers the best off-road and on-road performance available based on the latest state-of-the-art vehicle technology.

The modular structure of the vehicle makes it suitable for a wide range of purposes, and allows different components and subsystems. For example, suitable weapons and heavier armour can be used to convert it from a troop carrier to an infantry fighting vehicle. The Patria AMV has high carrying-capacity and large growth-potential for future use. The maximum combat weight is 26t (or 22t in water).

The AMV has protection levels up to 30mm APFSDS frontal arc and various IED levels, and top-class mine protection to 10kg TNT. The high payload allows weapon systems to be integrated, from 7.62mm to 105mm turret systems or 120mm AMOS / Patria Nemo mortar systems.

THE PATRIA AMV FAMILY

The Patria AMV family provides optimal modularity of components and adaptability between a wide range of versions without changes in basic vehicle systems.

Versions are based on three hull models:

• Basic model versions, such as APC, IFV, command, ambulances, reconnaissance, etc.
• System platform, with spacious rear compartment, for versions like C4I, ambulances, etc.
• Heavy weapon platform, optimised to carry large-calibre weapon systems such as 120mm AMOS / Patria Nemo, and up to 105mm MGS

FOURTH-GENERATION ARMOURED WHEELED VEHICLE

The Patria AMV, the only fourth-generation armoured wheeled vehicle currently in serial production, is already in service with the Polish and Finnish armies. Patria will deliver 62 AMV armoured personnel carriers to the FDF by 2008, and 24 AMVs as a chassis for the AMOS 120mm mortar system.

The Slovenian Army ordered 135 wheeled vehicles in several versions at the end of 2006: the serial production started at the end of 2007. Also in 2007 Patria signed a contract with the Croatian army concerning 84 AMV 8x8 vehicles, and South Africa ordered 264 Patria AMVs. The latest order for AMVs was placed by the UAE.

ADVANCED MORTAR SYSTEMS

For decades, Patria has served customers with high quality mortars, field guns and ammunition as well as field gun modernisation and anti-aircraft weapons. Today products range from single rounds of ammunition to complete ready-to-use mortar systems.

AMOS ADVANCED MORTAR SYSTEMS

The Advanced Mortar System (AMOS) offers a high rate of fire, because it consists of a mortar turret with double-barrel 120mm mortars. It has a full 360° field of fire at elevations between +3° and +85°. AMOS can be mounted on wheeled or tracked APC chasses and also on boats.

All standard 120mm smoothbores mortar ammunition, as well as smart guided ammunition, can be used in AMOS and Patria Nemo.

PATRIA NEMO

Patria Nemo is an unmanned 120mm mortar turret with excellent signature management and ballistic protection. As a modern and compact system, Patria Nemo can easily be mounted onto various tracked and wheeled chassis. Due to its low weight (only 1,500kg), Patria Nemo is also adaptable to lightweight, high-speed vessels.

Featuring exceptional accuracy and agility in all types of manoeuvres, Nemo is ready to fire in less than 30s and enables immediate exit from the firing position – true performance for an array of shoot and scoot tactics.

Patria Nemo provides both direct and indirect fire support for rapid deployment forces. It is also excellent for harbour patrol and protection, coast guarding and infantry landing operations.

120MM MORTAR AMMUNITION

Patria offers four types of mortar ammunition for both AMOS and Patria Nemo mortar systems, as well as for standard muzzle-loaded mortars. All Patria ammunition has proven to be combat worthy in all climatic conditions. The types are:

• 120 IR-SMK (mortar infrared screening smoke)
• 120 MILL (mortar illuminating)
• 120 MERHE (mortar extended range high explosive)
• 120 MOCA (mortar cargo)
