Oxley Developments won the prestigious 2009 Innovation and Technology Award at the CN Group Business Awards ceremony on Thursday October 22.

The award was presented to Oxley Technical Director Darren Cavan and Business Development Manager Phil Robinson in recognition of the company’s success in remaining at the forefront of innovation and technology for over 60 years. The judges on the night praised Oxley as being ‘outstanding,’ and a clear winner in the category.

The award is given to the company that has ‘developed the most innovative new product, system or process over the last year and can demonstrate the positive impact it has had on the business.’

The awards, the county’s most celebrated business event, aimed at recognising Cumbria’s business community and promoting the very best business practices, were a red carpet occasion, with a champagne reception and dinner before the award ceremony proper.

Oxley Managing Director Peter Cotterill said: “It’s a great honour to win an award like this and it’s testament to the hard work and dedication of the many talented people within the company.”

Guests were greeted by CN Group Managing Director Terry Hall, and the guest speaker was Shadow Scottish Secretary David Mundell MP. CN Group Editorial Director Neil Hodgkinson said the awards were more vital than ever this year against the backdrop of the global recession. “There’s no hiding place from the recession,” he said. “Going forward, the people who survive will be the ones with good business practice, and they are the sort of people who are here tonight.”

The ceremony, held at the Rheged Centre near Penrith, was attended by over 250 people, representing the cream of the Cumbrian business community.
