Jankel Armouring - Armoured Vehicles and Special Vehicle Armouring Solutions

Jankel Armouring is a supplier of niche special armoured vehicle projects to defence and security agencies worldwide, with a focus on the requirements of special forces users, international deployments and staff protection.

Projects include long-range patrol vehicles, modular armour kits for retro-fitting onto soft-skinned vehicles, armoured Toyota LandCruiser / HiLux, counter terrorist assault vehicles, APCs, patrol vehicles, troop carriers and ECM equipped vehicles. Development, low volume and security sensitive projects are undertaken at the Jankel HQ location in Southern England. An 11,000m² production facility in Jordan is used for large-volume low-cost manufacture, the result of a joint venture with the Jordanian Government.

AL-THALAB LONG-RANGE PATROL VEHICLES

We have developed the Al-Thalab long-range patrol vehicle as a low cost solution to existing and emerging patrol and reconnaissance requirements. The vehicle has been designed to fulfil the following roles:

• Surveillance and reconnaissance
• Offensive action as a highly mobile weapons platform
• Urban operation
• Casualty evacuation

The specification comes from many years of operational experience within the Jankel management team of operating such vehicles in a wide range of environments. This specification has been migrated onto the ultra-rugged Toyota 79 LandCruiser chassis and retains all OEM systems, ensuring low cost and simple lifecycle support in the most remote of locations – the drive train being ubiquitous in those locations.

A 4x4 long-range patrol vehicle version is standard, with medium range and commando variants also available.

JANKEL HUNTER ARMOURED PATROL VEHICLE

The Jankel Hunter is a lightweight armoured patrol vehicle in the 3,500kg to 4,200kg GVW Class, which carries six persons, and provides small arms and fragmentation protection to occupants.

The Hunter ISV offer security force commanders a reliable, flexible and capable asset, and are based on the Toyota 79 LandCruiser, a widely available commercial chassis that has very-low cost logistics and spares costs and can be maintained through central workshops or remote service outlets. It has a very-low failure rate and is renowned for low support costs.

MODULAR ARMOUR PROTECTION INSTALLATION KIT (MAPIK)

The Modular Armour Protection Installation Kit (MAPIK) meets rapidly emerging requirements for modular armour protection systems for soft-skinned saloons, SUVs, military vehicles and open tactical-patrol vehicles; vehicles which have no payload or structure to accommodate an armour system used in international operations.

MAPIK provides rapidly deployable, zoned occupant protection, and fits all military vehicles.

ARMOURED TOYOTA VEHICLES FOR STAFF PROTECTION

Our armoured Toyota vehicles for staff protection are part of long-term agreements with key aid agencies. We are an established supplier of special versions of these armoured vehicles.

Armoured vehicles in production are as follows:

• Armoured 78 series LandCruiser.
• Armoured 79 series LandCruiser pick-up
• Armoured Toyota HiLux double cab
• Armoured 78 series LandCruiser ambulance

Specialist equipment fits have included Electronic Counter Measures (ECM) equipment, braking systems, engine enhancements, 24V systems, high capacity alternators, infra-red, blackout and communications systems, hatches, all opening windows and bespoke seating arrangements.

ARMOURED COUNTER TERRORIST ASSAULT VEHICLES

We have developed a range of armoured vehicles based on heavy-duty Chevrolet and Ford truck chasses, with high weight-carrying capacity and a robust nature.

Jankel Stirling and Jankel Guardian Tactical Intervention Vehicles (TIVs), are bespoke vehicles for hostage rescue teams and represent a capability leap over previous systems. The vehicles enable such teams to effectively tackle multiple targets such as buildings, wide body jets, trains, buses and ships, from a protected vehicle.

Jankel Al-Jawad is an armoured personnel carrier based on a commercially available Ford F-Series chassis to offer the user a large payload. The specification is suited to internal security roles such as protected border patrol, public order and hostage rescue roles.

The ladder-based reactive intervention systems offered by Jankel are available on a wide range of vehicle platforms, subject to the users' requirements for hostage rescue and assault operations.

Niche fleets have been supplied to a list of highly credible end-user units.
