FFG - Armoured Vehicles, Equipment, Upgrades and Maintenance

FFG performs industrial maintenance and combat upgrade activities for all armoured fighting vehicles within the German Army and other countries. Furthermore, FFG is also a manufacturer of new defence vehicles for the worldwide market.

COMBAT VEHICLE MAINTENANCE AND UPGRADE

For more than 40 years, FFG has been performing industrial maintenance of armoured tracked vehicles operated by NATO armies. Factory maintenance comprises complete systems and their assemblies / subassemblies. Other activities include upgrading combat performance and service-life extension. So far we have been responsible for upgrading the combat capabilities of the following systems:

M113 ADVANCED UPGRADE CONCEPTS

No other armoured vehicle has been manufactured and sold more often in the past 40 years than the American M113. For this reason more and more armed forces are asking for cost effective modernisation of existing vehicles, rather than replacing them with new, more expensive models. Based on the desire for a lifetime extension program for the M113 of the German Armed Forces, FFG has developed the M113 G2 and G3 Advanced Upgrade Concepts, which are in series production for several countries.

WARAN MULTI-PURPOSE WEAPON CARRIER

FFG's newest product is the armoured weapon carrier WARAN. The WARAN is based on a M113 hull and offers an increased useful volume and payload, a modern MTU/ZF power unit, mine protection, 360° ballistic protection, air cooling in combination with NBC protection and a fire suppression system. The WARAN fulfils all requirements on a modern tracked vehicle and is available in different variants, adapted to the needs of the customer.

MINEBREAKER 2000/2 MINE CLEARER

The clearance of landmines is a worldwide task of great importance and urgency. With the arrival of the Minebreaker 2000/2, technology is available for safer, faster and more cost-effective demining of large areas. Depending on the soil, the Minebreaker 2000/2 is able to clear up to 2ha in one working day. The system has been purchased by the South Korean and German Armed Forces.

AFV FIELD SERVICE

Maintenance work is performed in the field by mobile maintenance teams who provide effective local backup. These activities have enabled the FFG staff to acquire a high level of technical and logistic expertise, combined with long years of practical experience. FFG is also qualified to provide specialized training and respond appropriately to critical situations or capacity as well as spare parts bottlenecks.

Inspection, testing, maintenance, regular overhaul and technical modifications for systems units in AFVs are ensured by a company-owned store with special tools and operating equipment.
