High-performance fragmentation technology sets new benchmarks
Hand grenades and 40x46mm LV fragmentation grenades have been a core competence of RUAG Ammotec for a long time. Major NATO forces and numerous other armies rely on these products. More than five million such classical fragmentation hand grenades have been sold and the British Army referred to it as the world's best.
PEARL: Best performance at reduced weight
The PEARL hand grenade is an entirely new development and convinces by an outstanding performance and adaptability. The particular customer's ideal hand grenade is assembled from a modular system. Suitable basic bodies and fragments of different diameters can be selected. Steel balls, i.e. the so-called pearls, are applied to the basic body in one or two layers instead of the conventional prefragmented fragmentation jacket. The result:
- Up to 25% less weight with the same power and
- Up to 60% more power at the same weight as compared to the benchmark product
- Safer and better to handle through its ergonomic ball shape and hand-fitted size
- The new PEARL´s fuse meets the most stringent safety requirements and is extremely reliable.

Leading in the development of lead-free ammunition
The topic of "lead-free or at least low-pollution small-calibre ammunition" is gaining increasing importance also in military deployments. RUAG Ammotec has been engaged in research and development towards lead-free ammunition for a long time. First successes were achieved already years ago with the SINTOX® ignition technology. It permitted to drastically reduce the emission of harmful substances during the ignition process. A low-pollution 5.56 mm ammunition was already NATO-certified in the year 2000. In the meantime the SINTOX® technology gradually found its way into many other products of RUAG Ammotec.
The Green Power Technology of RUAG Ammotec sets new benchmarks for the penetration capacity, precision and energy of lead-free projectiles. It proves that the lead can be eliminated without loss of performance. This is enabled by a projectile of novel design which is gentle on the barrel. Instead of lead, two tombac jackets slid into each other are used. Green Power ammunition impresses not only by its compatibility with the environment, however, but also by its high precision and reliability. At present the Green Power Technology is applied in the calibres 9mm Luger and 5.56x45 mm.
SWISS P - Sniper's choice
Special units take advantage of RUAG Ammotec's SWISS P Line, the appropriate ammunition for snipers. These products combine exceptional precision and best effect in the target with perfectly matched ballistics. All cartridges from calibre .308 display the same point of impact at the deployment distance, a readjustment is not needed if the situation demands a change of cartridge. The shooter can concentrate on the task and achieve best effects in the target.
