The DM84 is an artillery multi option fuze for use with 39 cal. and 52 cal. weapons and has been developed for deployment with high explosive, cargo, smoke and illumination ammunition. In addition to this the fuze is also qualified for the use in 120 mm rifled mortars!
The DM84 derives from the proven and successful MOFA DM74 which was produced some 150.000 times for the German Armed Forces and other NATO-countries. The main target to introduce the DM84 was to improve the DM74's capability and usability.
The DM84 has a new battery which is activated at firing and which is able to detect the different acceleration impulses between a 1.5 meter drop test and the acceleration forces during projectile firing.
Safety is guaranteed by the qualified SAU DM62 from the DM74 which is in service in Germany, Canada, Denmark and Norway.
Arming is initiated by translational and rotational forces after firing. The rotor moves abruptly in-line after the muzzle safety distance has elapsed.
