Fabryka Produkcji Specjalnej (FPS Bolechowo) - Specialist Warheads, Ammunition and Ordnance

Located near Poznan in western Poland, FPS Bolechowo is a leading producer of metal components for artillery shells and rocket ammunition and the only supplier of artillery cartridge cases in the country. Subsequently, the company is a key ammunition supplier for the state defence and military sectors.

The products manufactured by FPS Bolechowo are primarily made to meet state defence requirements. The company specialises in the production of 122mm rockets, 120mm and 125mm tank ammunition, 40mm - 152mm steel and brass cartridge cases, and cartridge belts of small-arms ammunition.

SPECIALIST ARTILLERY ROCKET WARHEADS

FPS Bolechowo’s principal product is the 122mm extended range artillery rocket round for the BM21/RM70 launcher, which is used worldwide. In the late 1990s the company started to work on the modernization of the previous version of the rocket. Firstly, the following new types of warheads were designed, including High Explosive (HE with increased fragmentation) (SPALL), CARGO with HEAT bomblets (HESYT), and munitions for scattered mining (PLATAN).

PHENIX ARTILLERY ROCKET MOTOR

The next step was the upgrading of the motor in order to carry warheads launched from a standard BM21/RM70 launcher to distances of over 40 km. The result of this modernization is PHENIX, which has been regularly delivered to the Polish Armed Forces since 1999. Nowadays FPS is working on further improving PHENIX by increasing its range and accuracy.

SPECIALIST ORDNANCE AND AMMUNITION DEVELOPMENT

Apart from rocket ammunition the company takes part in many defense R&D projects such as 120mm tank ammunition. Long-standing experience, qualified staff, access to the latest technological solutions and the modern stock of machine tools give FPS the capability to face every challenge in the field of metalworking.

ORDNANCE DESIGN AND RESEARCH

FPS carry out design and research work with the cooperation of many scientific centres, such as Poznan University of Technology, Warsaw University of Technology, the Military Institute of Armament Technology in Zielonka and the Institute for Ferrous Metallurgy. The result was the development and implementation of many military products and introduction of new raw materials. FPS widely cooperates with several foreign companies in Europe, delivering different types of cartridge cases and rocket parts.
