Expal receives $2.4m contract from US army

EXPAL USA has been awarded a $2.4m contract for the development of pilot scale processes for the manufacture of new enhanced blast explosives for ARDEC (The US Army Armament Research, Development and Engineering Centre) at Picatinny Arsenal.

The work will take place at EXPAL’s Twin Screw Extruder facility in Minden, Louisiana, and is expected to be completed by August 2018.

From its Texas headquarters, EXPAL USA operates on three sites within the US: Camp Minden (the ex-Louisiana Army Ammunition Plant), where this contract work will be performed; another manufacturing facility located on a 120-acre site in Marshall Texas for load, assemble and pack and pyrotechnic manufacturing, and a third site located adjacent to the Red River Army Depot in Hooks Texas, which will be dedicated to demilitarisation, this ‘Texarkana’ site will be operational in 2016.
