FAUN Trackway, based on the Isle of Anglesey, North Wales, is the defence division of Europe's number one municipal vehicle manufacturer, FAUN Zoeller (UK) Ltd.
FAUN Trackway designs and manufactures a range of high-quality portable access systems for use in military and civilian disaster and emergency relief operations at its internationally accredited production facilities in the UK.
Unbeaten in all trials, FAUN's products are used in over 30 different militaries around the world. FAUN was initially designed and developed for the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD). Now its products are widely used in a variety of humanitarian and disaster relief operations, where rapid access to cut-off areas is essential.
The utility and mining industries use FAUN products to explore areas where access would otherwise be impossible. FAUN employs a team of highly skilled engineers dedicated to exploring new product designs and working alongside future and existing customers to create bespoke solutions to their problems.
FAUN provides three complete portable roadway solutions: Heavy Ground Mobility System (HGMS), Medium Ground Mobility System (MGMS) and Adjustable Ground Mobility System (AGMS). HGMS is MLC 70, which means it can withstand repeated vehicle loads of up to 70t, and is 50m long. It can be deployed in under six minutes by two people.
HGMS allows vehicles to move with ease over difficult terrain conditions such as sand, snow, mud, swamp and ice, helping to speed mobility and protect assets. HGMS has the robust qualities demanded by bridge transporters, tanks and heavy plant machinery. HGMS can also carry an additional 50m of Trackway towed behind the chassis on a trailer. This enables longer roadways to be laid quickly and connected easily. HGMS is an essential component in successful temporary bridging installations.
FAUN's MGMS consists of the same key elements as HGMS. MGMS is MLC 30, which means it can withstand repeated vehicle loads of up to 30t, and is 32m long. Like all FAUN products, MGMS is unbeaten in all trials. It is most appropriate for vehicles with pneumatic tyres and can also be deployed using a medium wheeled tractor with a specialist dispenser for beach landings.
The FAUN AGMS is a specially designed deployment, transportation and storage device for both MLC 70 and MLC 30 Trackway. AGMS lays and recovers both types of temporary roadway using the same adjustable dispenser mounted on a medium wheeled tractor. The adjustable dispenser is mounted via quick-release couplings to a shovel loader with suitable lifting capacity. AGMS is widely used in beach landing operations where varying grades of Trackway are required to accommodate a wide variety of vehicle weights.
FAUN's Vehicle Recovery Mats (VRM) are used to mobilise vehicles that have become stuck in sandy, muddy, boggy icy or otherwise difficult terrain.
FAUN provides three types of vehicle recovery solution:
VRM kits include storage boxes/bags to ensure the equipment is ready when needed.
FAUN has four aluminium panel designs suitable for creating forward operating pads, runways, taxiways, turnarounds and helipads for aircraft, UAVs and helicopters.
FAUN's Aircraft Landing Mat (ALM) solutions are rapidly deployable and suitable for long or short term installation. FAUN's Helicopter Landing Mat (HLM) solutions reduce brown-out and are palletised for straight-forward transportation.
FAUN's Rapid Runway Repair (RRR) Bomb Damage Repair Mats enable critical sections of a damaged airfield to be repaired in order for flying operations to be resumed following an enemy attack.
FAUN continues to invest heavily in the research and development of new products. FAUN's team of engineers works closely with key partners such as the MoD, to which it is a prime contractor, as well as leading military institutions such as the US military's Engineer Research and Development Centre (ERDC), in order to develop bespoke solutions to individual problems.
